Accelerators
Organic Peroxides
They are chemicals that are accelerators or heat activated and regulate the gel and curing of polyester resin and vinylester resin.
Initiates cross-linking reactions between resin and reactive monomers such as styrene. Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEK-P) is active at room temperature for the hardening of polyesters and vinylesters. Tert Butyl Peroxybenzoate (TBPB) is recommended for heat-curing productions such as pultrusion and hot press. Benzoyl peroxide (BPO) is active above 80°C and is used with amine accelerators at room temperature for curing systems. Acetyl Acetone Peroxide (AAP) is preferred in RTM applications with its fast demoulding time.
